College Admissions Counseling
Why Use an Independent College Admissions Counselor?
I believe that there is a big difference between simply deciding to go to college and choosing the path that is truly right for you. Many families have found that working with an independent college consultant early in high school helped their student not only succeed but also stay motivated and engaged throughout the decision making process.
I’m committed to helping students explore what kind of future they want to build for themselves. Planning for and applying to college is complex, competitive, and time consuming. While I provide practical support with applications, essays, and timelines, I also offer emotional support and encouragement because this process can be just as challenging emotionally as it is logistically.
I support students every step of the way: from high school course planning and testing strategies to building a thoughtful college list, preparing for interviews, writing compelling essays, and submitting final applications. I also guide families through decisions related to deferrals, waitlists, and scholarships.
As a thoughtful and experienced listener, I help students identify their strengths and unique qualities so they can craft applications that are both authentic and impactful.
As a parent myself, I understand the importance of finding a college plan that works not just academically and personally, but financially as well. I’m happy to discuss cost-saving strategies and financial aid/scholarship opportunities that make sense for your family.
Because I work with only a small number of students, I’m able to provide the individualized support and attention each student deserves.
“College is a match to be made, not a prize to be won. Finding a good fit requires time and thoughtfulness.”

Creating A Plan That Is Right For You
We start with an initial consultation to get to know each other and learn more about the student’s academic background and long-term goals. This first meeting is free if you decide to move forward with College Gateways. From there, we create a personalized plan tailored to the student’s needs and aspirations.
Throughout the entire process, I stay in close communication with both the student and their family, making sure everyone’s in the loop and supported every step of the way. Services are billed at an hourly rate, and I send out invoices at the end of each month.
Below are some of the ways I can support students and families.
